Today cravingsweets turns one. Happy Blogoversary! What better way to say Happy Birthday to my blog than with a plate of freshly filled french macarons. As I contemplated what to bake for my first blogoversary, I found myself comparing my blog to these scrumptious little treats. For one, they were conceived by an European foodie (this could become a heated debate between the French and the Italians). Cravingsweets was also conceived by an European foodie. You though that I was going to say I’m French, didn’t you? Well I wish, but I am just as proud to say that I am Polish.
Secondly, french macarons are a challenging cookie to make because they are extremely intimidating and they require a lot of patience. If you had ever started a blog or are thinking of starting one, you can notice the similarities. For me, the words I put here are just as important as the recipes that go along with each post. It takes a lot of patience to post something you want to share with the world. Patience with yourself. I have to admit that it took me a long time to start a blog because being a part of the blogging community sounded very intimidating. There are so many amazing blog out there that the thought of being a part of this community both thrilled and scared me.
When I was reading up on the secrets of making perfect french macarons, time after time, I read that the perfect macaron is about the right technique. Technique can only come from time and experience, but great technique doesn’t have to be what others have done before you. With time you find your own perfect way of doing things. With cravingsweets I am trying to find my voice, a way to spread my passion about food, and to learn something new. So here’s to another year of great food!
